Mother Night

Mother Night Cover   I just reread Vonnegut’s Mother Night. The introduction includes the moral of the WW II story of intrigue and identity, art and duplicity: We are what we pretend to be; so we must be careful what we pretend to be.

The benediction that occurs repeatedly in Vonnegut’s Slaughter House Five appears in the introduction of Mother NightSo it goes. That’s Vonnegut’s resigned sigh and wave at the passing tragedy of life, his secular amen.
