Adirondack guide boats

The Adirondack Guide

My friend Gordon Fisher has a new blog describing step-by-step the creation of another of his Adirondack guide boats.

I like the thought of Gordon’s careful, artistic construction of a piece of art-in-wood, accomplished over several quiet seasons. The creation by hand of a graceful guide boat, intended for unobtrusive personal transport in the wilderness, anticipates its own historic and eventual use: quiet yet purposeful floating on a body of water that of itself owes nothing to getting anywhere or selling anything, but is what it is,  a liquid jewel set in the earth.
