Trumpeter’s Lullaby

My son Nate has been playing the trumpet since he was 8 or 9. He likes jazz and has had a good experience in high school with a fine and inspiring jazz band director, and with  a private teacher to whom he relates well. Recently Nate brought out Leroy Anderson’s Trumpeter’s Lullaby. It’s a Boston piece, composed in Boston for the Boston Pops Orchestra when Arthur Fiedler directed. It reminds me of an old, dear friend of our family, Norm Alstad, an engineer, a trumpeter, a Norwegian and a saint. Here’s Wynton Marsalis playing Trumpeter’s Lullaby.
